Maharaja Ranjit Singh Award 2018
Maharaja Ranjit Singh Award is the highest state honor for any sportsperson in Punjab.

The Award carries a cash prize of 5 lakh rupee, a scroll, a statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, and free health insurance for five years

The awardees are selected from those who participate in Olympic and other recognized international sports including Cricket, Kabaddi and Para Games.

A separate set of rules are framed for the award in the game of Kabaddi and Para Games.

The eligibility of a sportsperson is defined on the basis of past five-year performance.

The award was instituted in 1978 and Olympian Pargat Singh was the first person to receive the honor.

In 2018, 70 sportspeople are selected for the prestigious award.

The award was not given in the period of 1996-2005, and 2011-2018.
