Mango showers is a local term to describe the event of pre-monsoon rainfall. It is mostly observable in Karnataka, Kerala, Konkan, and Goa. These rains greatly influence the yield of mangoes and help mangoes from not prematurely dropping from trees and crucial for mango cultivators, hence, the name.

The mango showers occur as the result of thunderstorm development over the Bay of Bengal, and its intensity ranges between from light showers to heavy and persistent thunderstorms.

The Mango Showers is also known as April Shower as they appear mostly in the second half of April. Though, it is hard to predict their arrival.

The mango showers are also known as the Coffee shower in the coffee growing region of South India, as it also has a positive influence on the coffee yield.
