Sahitya Akademi Award 2017 (List of Winners)
Sahitya Akademi Award is the second highest literary award bestowed on Indian writers of merit in 24 major languages of India (22 languages listed in the Eight Schedule of the Indian Constitution along with English and Rajasthani) by Sahitya Akademi, India's National Academy of Letters.

Established in 1954, the award comprises of a copper plaque, a shawl and a cash prize of one lakh Indian rupee.

Interestingly, the plaque was designed by the famous Bengali film maker, Satyajit Ray.

In 2017, Seven novels, five poetry collections, five short stories, five books of literary criticism, one play, and one essay collection won the prize.
