The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has embarked on a strategic partnership with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) to bolster disaster response capabilities in high-altitude regions along the India-China border. This collaboration is motivated by concerns over the escalating frequency of disasters in the Himalayas, attributed to climate change and human activities.

NDRF Director General Atul Karwal is in talks with the ITBP to station NDRF personnel in forward areas alongside the ITBP. The plan involves forming small rescue teams co-located at ITBP outposts in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Sikkim. Additionally, discussions are ongoing with the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) to station rescuers at their outposts along borders with Pakistan, Nepal, and Bhutan.
Long-Range Patrols with ITBP Troops:
To familiarize themselves with the terrain, NDRF personnel are conducting long-range patrols with ITBP troops along the India-China Line of Actual Control (LAC). This preparatory measure ensures effective deployment during emergencies.
Collaboration with Other Border Guarding Forces:

NDRF DG emphasized the significance of pre-acclimatization for rescuers stationed in places like Srinagar. This measure is crucial for effective disaster response operations in higher altitudes, ensuring prompt mobilization during emergencies.
