Airports in Himachal Pradesh

As of 2019, there are three airports in Himachal Pradesh which are Shimla (Jubberhati) Airport near Shimla, Gaggal Airport near Kangra and Bhuntar Airport near Kullu. All of them have runways shorter than 5000 feet, hence only small aircrafts are allowed to operate. There is no international airport in Himachal Pradesh.

Kullu–Manali Airport
Earlier known as Bhunter Airport, the Kullu-Manali Airport is located at an altitude of 1089 meters in Bhunter, 11 km from Kullu and 52 km from Manali in Kullu district. It is one of the most challenging airports as the airport is set in deep valley whose peaks rises several thousands feets higher than runaway.

Gaggal Airport
Officially known as Kangra Gaggal Airport is located in the picturesque valley of Kangra at an altitude of 770 m, 8 km ahead of Kangra town. It is also referred as the Dharamshala Airport due to its proximity to Dharamshala.

Shimla Airport
Earlier known as Jubbarhatti Airport, Shimla Airport is an airport located at an altitude of 1546 m in Jubbarhatti, just 22 km ahead of Shimla. 

Mandi Airport
Mandi Airport is an upcoming airport spread across 600 acres of land in the beautiful district-town of Mandi. As of May 2018, Mandi Airport has got clearance by the Airport Authority of India.
