According to 2011 population census, the majority of Andaman and Nicobar Islands population is Hindu. Christian is the next largest religious community in the Island group. Muslim comes at the third and rest of other religious community make up less than one percent of the total population.

Having said that, the tribal population of Island group follow a form of monotheistic Animism. The tribals from Andaman Island group believe in Paluga, a tribal deity. The believe that Paluga is responsible for everything on this earth. They put special emphasis on dreams and think that dream decides one's course of life.
