Sahitya Akademi Award for Malayalam is one of the highest literary award given for the outstanding contribution to Malayalam Literature. The award was instituted in 1955, and given along with Sahitya Akademi Awards for other twenty three major languages of India. The award carries a monetary reward of Rs. 100000, a plaque and a citation.
