Thunchaththu Ramanujan Ezhuthachan known as the Father of Modern Malayalam
The Ezhuthachan Puraskaram (also known Ezhuthachan Award) as is the highest literary award conferred by the Indian State Government of Kerala on any writer for his or her contribution in the field of Malayalam literature. It was instituted in 1993 and since annually presented by Kerala Sahitya Akademi, Government of Kerala. The award is named after the legendary 16th century Malayalam poet Thunchaththu Ramanujan Ezhuthachan. He is considered as the father of modern Malayalam language. The award carries a pize money of Rs. 500000, a plaque, and a citation.
