Dhyan Chand Award Winners (2002-2018)
The Dhyanchand Award is the highest lifetime sporting honour in India. It was instituted in 2002 and  named after the legendary field hockey player Dhyan Chand, who scored more than 1000 goals during his illustarious career. The award carries a bronze Dhyanchand miniature shield, a certificate and a cash prize of five lakh rupees.

Shahuraj Birajdar (Boxing), Ashok Diwan (Hockey), and Aparna Ghosh (Basketball) were the first recepients of the prestigious award.

In 2018, the Dhyanchand award is conferred upon Satyadev Prasad (Archery), Bharat Kumar Chetri (Hockey), Bobby Aloysius (Athletics), and Chougale Dadu Dattatray (Wrestling).

In 2019, Manoj Kumar (wrestling), C Lalremsanga (archery), Arup Basak (table tennis), Nitten Kirrtane (tennis) and Manuel Fredricks (hockey) are nominated for the prestigious award.
