The Governor of Sikkim is the constitutional head of Sikkim. He is appointed by the President of India for a term of five years, and holds office at the President's pleasure.
The seat was established on 16 May 1975 when Kingdom of Sikkim joined the Union of India. B. B. Lal was the inaugral holder of the office. He was in the office from 16 May 1975 to 9 January 1981. Ganga Prasad is the current Governor of Sikkim. He took the charge of office on 26 August 2018.
